Even more interesting is to note how many of them were "concensus" #1 picks. I personally agreed with almost every one from the past 15 years! I can hear myself saying on draft day "Yes. Well that makes sense."

Shows how much I know!

I agree completely! Surprising, as you would think #1 picks are almost can't miss . . .

Vinny started out as a bust, but he ended up putting up decent numbers thru sheer longevity.

Too soon to call Alex Smith a bust per the above.

Tim Couch & Ki-Jana Carter were definitely busts. David Carr as well.

David Carr will excel in the right system, but he is a bust in a sense that he was highly overrated and put on a crappy expansion team. I watched him play as a back up with the Giants and he has pretty good accuracy and a decent arm, if we didn't have Eli I wouldn't mind seeing Carr back behind center.

thanks for the table, but bledsoe? he was a 4 time pro bowler and won a superbowl. he's not an elite guy, but certainly not a bust.

kijana is a good pick. couch is a close second. jury is still out on alex smith.

You could definitely argue that Vinny "Intercepte-verde" had a long, unspectacular and semi-productive NFL career. Bledsoe? not even close to being a bust.

Ryan Leaf......even though he was picked second overall (after Peyton Manning), he will no doubt go down in history as the biggest NFL bust ever. He has become the standard upon which all other "busts" are judged. The thing I find hard to believe is that despite being incredibly immature, Ryan Leaf invested most of his pro earnings, and is supposedly quite well off and financially secure. Dan Patrick has him on his radio show from time to time and he is actually a pretty interesting interview and seems to be good natured about his status as the all time NFL bust.
