On paper it looks like one of the most one-sided El Clásico's for a while, but nevertheless the voices from the Real Madrid camp have been nothing but positive this week.

The Los Blancos players have all been defiant in their words and today, Fabio Cannavaro did not buck the trend as he spoke to Marca.

"Barcelona are doing phenomenal things at the moment, but this will be different," he boomed.

"We are going to fight to the death because we know we are missing great players like Pepe, [Gabriel] Heinze, [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy and [Mahamdou] Diarra, but we have a team that will be going to win."

The game is one of the biggest in the La Liga calendar and motivation does not sound like it is going to be a problem for Cannavaro.

"When you have the luck to play a game like the one in the Camp Nou, you do not need three days before to think about it," he mused.

"It is a game that, even by calling it El Clásico, you can see it is something different. It is hard to explain, we will have the fortunate to play it, and therefore we will have nothing to do but enjoy it.

"I know that we can win in the Camp Nou and besides, I believe that we are the only team that can beat Barcelona."

Collective Responsibility

Cannavaro looks like he will line up in defence for the clash in the Camp Nou and the Italian is under no illusion about how well he, and his team-mates, will have to perform if they are to win.

"The four defenders will have to work a lot but we need help from the midfielders and the forwards because if not, we will not be able to keep a clean-sheet," he opined.

"It is very difficult to stop a player like [Lionel] Messi but also [Samuel] Eto'o, [Thierry] Henry and Xavi can score. Now we need a lot of concentration and team spirit because we know that if we want to leave the Camp Nou with the points, we have to be a team."

Bye Bye Bernd

The match this week has been preceded by an interesting change in coach at the Bernabéu, with Juande Ramos coming in to replace Bernd Schuster. Cannavaro says that the whole squad has felt the loss, and that Ramos has not had enough time to change much for the match.

"It is tough to arrive and then to have to prepare for such an important game. He has been very clear and has explained it all though. He has made simple changes and we know we have a difficult game, but he has the necessary experience," he said.

"The grief now is that a coach has left and that is a loss to all the team because something has failed. With the new coach we have time as the season is long, and we have to lift our heads and to go forward."
