Okay so the Fairmont is booked, where should i stay in Napa for one night?

Edit - looking for somewhere within close proximity to wineries.

Sorry Josh,

If you can cancel the Fairmont, stay at the Clift instead. Their bar, Redwood Room, is awesome. Also for dinner, let me know what you're in the mood for and I can make some recomendations.

Never stayed at Vilagio, when I go to Napa I usually stay at La Residence in Yountville. They are right next to one of my favorite restaurants - Bistro Don Giovani.

Excellent Recs!!!! I am also hearing great things about Redd and JoLe for restaurants in the Napa valley.

Ubuntu in Napa was recently named one of the top vegetarian restaurants in the US, not my cup of tea, but maybe his or his GF's Tra Vigne is always nice, but is looking a bit tired these days, especially when compared to the newer places like Redd and JoLe. Martini House is an another excellent choice, especially if you want an upscale steakhouse type of experience

The Villagio is located in the quaint little town of Yountville across the street from French Laundry and Bouchon. I am partial to the place as my wife and I stayed there for a week when we had our wedding in Napa a year and a half ago. Every room is quite large and has a fireplace. It is modeled after a Tuscan village with numerous fresco paintings, fountains and a spectacular pool. The rates are normally in the 400-450 range, but they are currently running a special for around 250 per night until 4/30. The service is excellent, the setting is tranquil and peaceful and the breakfast (included) is really good. The location is tough to top as well.

I usually stay at the W San Francisco when I am up there. As far as food goes, there's a lot to do:

1. Pizza Delphina
2. The French Laundry (if you can get in)
3. Manresa (in Los Gatos area)

Wineries...I'm a Pinot guy so Napa is tough for me. Most of the quality wineries seem to be closed to the public and available by appointment only. Frank Family is nice to visit and they have some decent cabs. If you can get an appointment at Bremer Family Winery, it's a real treat (I've always loved their claret). Same with Brown Family. Also give Elyse Winery a try.

When you make an appointment, I often feel that there is an implicit rule that states you are going to buy some wine - and much more than one bottle.

Fairmont is booked mate, i want to stay there just because i have fond memories of the massive xmas tree when i was last there!

Just looked at both of your recommendations...always thought you did it right so i will probably end up booking it tomorrow - both the hotel and the restaurant.
