Ordered this guy -- 75-100 smokes with initials on the nameplate, with Boveda seasoning kit, Zicar crystal humidifier, Zicar digital hygrometer, Boveda calibration pack, porcelain 4 cigar ash-tray

Also got this 'best of CAO' sampler for a killer deal to get it started from famous-smoke.com

Can't wait for it all to get here this week and get it set up.
Congrats, very cool humi, with a nice sampler to get it going!

I believe that sampler was on sale from $75 to $45!

And thanks for the tip UBC - will do.

I have wiped my humidor down with a dampened sponge, and then let it sit for a day, minus the cigars without any problems. Your approach works just as well. I have never had mold, or damage to the cedar, but maybe I am one of the lucky ones. You just can't apply too much distilled water.

Your welcome and congrats on the new humi. My cabinet is coming in three weeks and I can't wait!

Three bad things can happen when you wipe with the sponge. One, all that extra water can actually cause some of the glue to moisten and weaken the seals between wood pieces. Two, that can leave stains inside your humi. Three, all that extra water can raise the sanded grain of the wood causing it to become rough.

Very true, I have been fortunate. Your way, does sound a lot safer! I will try that method on my next humidor, thank you.

Going to the local brick and mortar with a few friends for a late evening smoke. I'll probably have a Padron anniversario, '64.

so I was having a smoke with my buddy today and he said that his favorite cigars have been very peppery in flavor. Any of you especially ptrans and ubc, have any cigars that he should try?

Most of the Don Pepin Garcia lines are peppery, or spicy. I like the blue label the most. Second would be the Cuban Classic, which is the black label.
