This is my cigar for the TS poker game tonight. It is a G.A.R Vanguard Torpedo in the Herfador.

They list a lot of 12 year on there, but not a lot of 15/18 year. Some of my favs are on there though. Balvenie 15 year is awesome. Glenfiddich 12 and 15 are my go to scotch.

Its funny they have highland park 12 year up there as smoky and its the lowest on the chart. I had a bottle of that, and its RIDICULOUSLY smoky. I guess I'm just not into it.

Yeah there is nothing crazy on the list, but some solid regular occasion bottles. Definitely nice to help the amateur describe what they like and maybe find similar bottles. There is definitely no science to it though, as you noted.

Does anyone drink a Port with their stogies? Not a fan myself but maybe i didn't get the good stuff? I thought it was too syrupy tasting.

I'm fine with a good cup of joe or a glass of sweet tea to go with my stogie.

I know some do, I've never tried though. I know for some its sacrilege, but I actually like a smoke with a redbull/vodka. Something about the ultra-sweet of the energy drink makes the cigar better.

I prefer a nice Bourbon, like Woodford Reserve, or Knob Creek for fuller bodied cigars. I generally pair a nice craft beer(sometimes non-craft) depending on the strength of the cigar. You do not want your drink to over power the cigar, and vise versa. If you are exploring different cigars to see what flavors work for you, then I find it best to just drink water, so there is no interference on your palate.

This is a great cigar, and I would recommend it for special occasions. It is smooth, medium in body, and pairs well with most beverages.
