I tried a Macallan 12 year over the weekend warming up for the superbowl and was very impressed with it.
I have a sizable gift card to the LCBO and am thinking of getting a bottle or two to add to the collection. does anyone have any suggestions as for something "off the beaten path"?

if you haven't tried Oban 14 yet I say give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. (unless you really like the Listerine tasting scotches)
