Y they said were running 2:13's at the fastest (which seemed optimistic to me). I run 2:08's when I can get some clean track. They were also on Hoosier R6's for the first time so they were getting used to the increased grip.

My cinematographer friend loves right seating if you couldn't tell.

^^ But that looks like the cabin of a 997. Probably a GT3 or a GT2 (sorry, my headphones are in pretty bad shape, so can't really tell)

2 years ago I did 6 or 7 laps in a F430 and 6 or 7 in a 997 Turbo.
OI was definitly going faster in the 997 TT.
Maybe the F430 is an equivalent or faster car, but you need to have balls of steel to be as agressive behind the wheel of the F430 as you are being with the 997 TT... make a mistake in the TT and you'll control the car. make a mistake in the F430 and you won't.
It's much easier (and much funnier also) to go fast in a 997 TT than in a F430, that's why I prefer the 997. If you fight with an F430 you'll step out sweating, if you fight with a 997 TT you'll get out with a smile on your face.

I have driven plenty of 430's (lots fo Scuds too) - and am a driving instructor for the porsche club. I find your analysis 100% off the mark. In comparison to my 993tt (RWD) with no elecrtonic aids other than ABS - even with the drive settin set to RACE on the 430 - the F car does a superb job of erasing driving mistakes with its advanced electronic controls - additionally the mid-engine layout and 50/50 weight distribution allows for idiots to drive like heros. Even in a 997tt which is slightly less of drivers car with AWD and gobs of torque, they still have the engine in the rear and share much of the handling characteristics that porsches are known for - think lift off snap oversteer.

I don't think it takes "balls of steel" to drive an F car fast - it just takes a lot more $.

I need to take driving classes from you, I still suck behind the wheel of the scud. The MP4 on the other hand made me look like a bloody hero w/o even breaking a sweat...I sweat profusely through my buttcrack when in the scud. shit's no joke imho.
