You cannot compare it to a 'normal' 911S... This was owned by Steve McQueen and starred in one of the coolest car films ever. To be honest, I would not have been surprised if it went for more.

As an investment, it's solid. As a great car to take out occasionally, it doesn't come much cooler...

Cars like this are not about investment/value they are about someone with a ton of money buying it because they want it. I was at the RM auction last year when the Bond car made £2.6 million which is in the same category and once again seems a lot of money for a DB5 but I must say that RM are the best there is when it comes to hyping a car up.

This is a common misconception. This is the "movie car" from Le Mans and is a 1970, but Steve McQueen's own personal car was a '69. Two different cars in the same color.

Does anyone remember how much McQueen's 250 Lusso went for at auction a few years back? Can't imagine it was too much more than this.
I think it went for 2.4 M

Do you mean, NOT the movie car?

This car, the 1970 S, was given to McQueen by Porsche for use in the film and for personal use whilst in Europe. The car was returned to Porsche after filming and then shipped to LA for McQueen. He is the first registered owner - and he owned both the 1970 and 1969 cars for a period. He later sold this car and retained his 69 car due to some modifications he had made. Both cars were his though.
