I need advice from 80's Carrera owners!!

So I have an 06' C2S and I have had my eye out for another one obviously an older one that I can maybe spruce up a little or maybe just track out and have fun with. What do you think of this one?
Has: New Clutch
New Tranny
New Brakes and I love that whale tale!!! Tell me what you think guys I am serious about getting it so give me honest opinions. Anyone that has one please give me info or experiences that you have had, it is an 85' 5 Speed Manual with 119k miles on it. Thanks!

if your getting it for free then yea go for it..if not then buy a car that someone already bastardized for tack use. Looks like it fell of the jack or someone didn't know where to place the jack when lifting it..

I haven't had the chance to drive it/look at it in person yet. Hopefully this weekend I will get back in town.

cpconst is an unknown quantity at this point
If you want an classic 911 without problems then go for an '87-89 carrera with a G-50 transmission (avoid the 915 with syncro problems). The lower the mileage the better. Look for records and receipts. Avoid targa's. Had an '87 with 54k mi.for seven years and zero problems. I actually made money on it when I sold it last year. Definately a great car that won't eat much hay.

You lose some raw feel with the G50 from the added weight. If that tranny is new I wouldn't be concerned about issues.

I drive a 915 trans. every day and it's fine. Just make sure to run Swepco fluid, install fresh bushings and make sure the clutch cable is adjusted and you're good to go. The G50 makes the car feel lethargic IMHO and the increased shifting speed is overrated. The clutch is also much more expensive on the G50.

If you really want to go back to basics, get a 73 and earlier 911. Less weight, and IMHO just more of a basic drivers car.

There are a few clean cars for sale, But if you want a track or fun car buy a 911 That's already been modified(inspect it carefully!!!!). That way someone else has taken the hit financially.
