Thoughts on a 944

What do you guys think about this car? I'm considering getting it and plan on going to see it this Sunday with a guy who knows a ton about these 80's German sports cars. Granted it is a 944 so it will of course have tons of issues but I really don't care. For a college kid (with a little parental backing I'll admit)....good car or bad car? I originally put this in off topic but was told to post it here too.

Holy miles batman!!

I love 944s but that mileage would scare me off right quick.

I think the big issue with 944s are the water pumps. If that goes the motor can overheat right quick and do bad things.

It looks clean.. But seems overpriced! You can almost expect on some moderate engine work. Probably $3500 is the magic number.. though, he sounds like a 'pro'..

That seems like a nice car but the miles are way too high! I just got a 944 about a month ago and couldn't be happier with it. To give you an idea I got a 1984 944 standard coupe manual trans with "only" 75k miles. The car is really clean and well kept and I paid $4400 for it. I know it's older but has a fraction of the miles... I think $5000 is too much for a car with that kind of mileage even though it does seem like a nice car. I am by no means an expert in this topic that's just my opinion...

If you are serious about getting a 944 let me know. I have a highly optioned '89(with the torquier 2.7l motor) that i am about to sell. It is in perfect shape with all documented maintenance.

This one would be the ticket if you want a 944. Not sure if it's still for sale but...

Very clean 944 - Driven World
