Thinking about building a 944 track car . . .
The 944 is the "other" childhood dream car of mine and I have been toying with the idea of building a proper track car out of one.
Aesthetics are obviously not top priority when I look for one, as I'd probably rip out most of what is nice to replace it with bad-ass race-y parts, intimidating red buttons, sweet fire extinguishers and light seats in bold colors, but it needs to be mechanically good.
What are some things to look for? Weak points? Is it as reliable as my 911? And what year do I want for this sort of thing - any weight/mechanical differences between, say, an '85 and a '90? There are about ten or so for sale ranging between the equivalent of 10 to 25K USD, and most seem to have around 300 hp or so. Will I want more, and how much of a hassle is there to get to ... oh, I dunno, 350?
Educate me please!

I'm sure you could get one to Sweden for 275' SEK or something. Way better investment then dumping a bunch of tusenlappar on parts for the 944 that will be worth a 1/5 of it's value when it's time to sell. Also if you want to go the cheaper route you could mod a Boxster like Todd did?
