I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Note to Porsche: Make it, looking just like that, make it light, and give it 500 hp with a real gearbox. Pretty please.

Holy damn, I never knew they were that much money... I thought Porsche announced they were going to make a lower dollar car (around the price of a Boxter/Cayman) about 9-11 months ago? I figured this was it for some reason.

I'm showing my age, apparently.

Damn... The rear looks like a BMW M Coupe done right.

If they leave the design just how it was shown in the rendering, Porsche will have a real winner on their hands.

This rendering looks amazing, and I'm already saving my pennies for this one. I love my old 928 and this one looks great!

No no, not even close. The last US car (1995 was the last year production for the 928) had an MSRP a little north of that but it was a true one off car. The guy (Linton) who had it built found out Porsche AG was keeping the last GTS built, got PO'd and said he didn't want the car (after it was built).

Base MSRP on a 1995 GTS was $85,260 and most stickered for right around that amount (mine was $86,671) as few were ordered by customers, instead; Porsche made the dealers take them if they wanted 993s. All totaled there were 77 1995 928 GTSs brought to all of North America for the 1995 model year. Of those 77 cars only 30 were 5-speeds.

This is the $170k GTS (2nd to last GTS built) refered to as the Linton GTS:

Maybe you saw this in one of the US auto mags:

Here is the build sheet:

The car was not a sales disappointment when introduced in 1977 as a 1978 model in fact, the 928 was named "car of the year" in Europe.

It wasn't until closer to the end of production long after Porsche stopped marketing the 928 did sales tank.

Remember, the 928 was the very first clean sheet of paper design in Porsche's history.........

Hey DJ, yes I know you are and I knew that came from the article. I should have mentioned that in my post.
