Thanks guise. Not the battery though. While the battery is only a few months old, I tried to steal juice from my brand new, massive 110Ah Benz battery - no go.

Check your chassis ground wire, it's underneath and comes off the side of the transmission case and bolts to the body.

What are the dash lights like? Everything normal when the key is in the on position? Could be a starter, we just had a 964 come through the shop with similar symptoms and it needed a starter.

Thanks buddy! I'll check the wires.

All the electrics are working as far as I can see (radio, headlights etc) and if I turn the key to ->1, everything looks normal and lights up fine. Although the dash lights start flickering in sync with the clicking noises as I turn the key.
