Indy Driver Dan Wheldon dies following crash in Las Vegas

Open wheel oval racing is about as dangerous as it gets. Any time you mix 200+ mph with steel and concrete barriers and open cockpits, stuff like this is bound to happen. One little mistake and you have nowhere to go and nothing to protect you.
At least in F1, they have plenty of run-off areas in case something goes incredibly wrong.
All that being said, at the end of the day, this was a freak accident and a great man lost his life way too soon.
RIP Dan.

I was happy to actually be able to sit down and watch a race; then this happened. I watched this as it happened, and it was simply not registering.
This man was at the top of his craft; and my heart goes out to them.
RIP and Blue Skies.
