"Senna" - Movie Review

Great write up Dana! It's to bad they didn't release the 2hr 40min in thearters.
It sure brings a tear to your eyes to watch the old footage of pits stops, no safety gear for the team they are in shorts and the press where right in front of the cars taking pictures as senna leaves sideways at full speed down the pit lane, F1 now is missing the rawness that they had up to the early 90's it was all the driver with his raw talent. Now we have way to much technology in the sport and it is not as exciting as it used to be.
Great film a must for any F1 fan.

In the U.S. theatrical release they cut out many of the most powerful interviews - including the tearful dedication by John Bisignano about Senna being "forever young - forever a champion." That was really a shame.

Thinking back, The part that really hit me the most was when Imola 94 started in the Movie and I got a sick feeling in me realizing that I had to relive it again. I say this because when I woke up that morning, I had tape the Race on video tape and did not know what happen. I turn the tv on and the CART Race was on and I started watching that and that when I found out. After the CART Race I watch the whole F1 Race and could not believe what I was seeing. I still have that video tape to this day but have never watch It again. The shock of see someone as Great As Him pass hit hard. I was a pure joy to watch him Drive a F1 Race Car.
And one last thing it would have been cool if they added the footage of when he test in one of Roger Penske Indy Cars back in 92 or 93 I believe.

Incredible review Dana, you are such a talented guy! I absolutely the loved the film, however, I must admit some of the interviews with Ron Dennis in the full version got a little tedious, because he isn't the best interviewee. Great review once again, and I must say that the most memorable part of the film for me was the entire weekend at Imola, particularly the low, swooping helicopter shots they had of the track before that fateful day; it literally sent shivers down my spin.

Yet, without any type of contemporary "sit-down" interview footage, some of the voices seem to lack context. While I commend Kapadia on his stylistic consistency and recognize the need to keep the movie's length under control, a bit more background on some of the key figures whose voices narrate the story would have been appreciated.
