Whitmarsh: U.S. Needs Two Grands Prix Per Year

Having both an East coast and West coast race added to the F1 schedule would be fantastic! I like the last quote. It demonstrates that he realizes that it would take some effort to bring the sport here in such a manner.

It'd be great to reignite the passion for F1 here in a big way but having an East coast and West coast race would screw all of us in the middle of the country.
Seems redundant to have the Montreal GP and a NY GP.

That would be a fantastic track but the track and the surrounding area aren't up to snuff. That's not to say they couldn't get to that level but it'd take a lot of money and time to get there.

Yep, exactly. The layout of the track would make for an incredible F1 race, but the infrastructure around the Elkhart Lake area and the paddock/spectator viewing areas wouldn't be sufficient. Although the American Club and Whistling Straights are a great start!

I wish Whitmarsh took Bernie's spot, he seems so much more passionate about growing the sport worldwide (especially in the States) than Bernie. I could see him bringing the races to the U.S. without an extravagant fee, while Bernie sucks the life ($$) out of each country that wants a race. F1 has to take a loss (reasonable ticket prices) for a few years here before they can truly see the continuous fans/profits they'd like.

I don't see us being screwed, getting to NY from MI is a minor hassle (I assume minni isn't too much worse) West coast would be a little more of a struggle. Either way it's much easier than heading to Monaco.
