Lewis Hamilton vs. Tony Stewart In The Books

Not sure if you guys were aware but this aired today. The sessions started with Hamilton taking a couple laps in his car while Stewart watched. Stewart then went out in his Impala SS and did a handful of laps. Stewarts #14 had wet tires, windshield wipers, and a anti-fog system connected to the windows. Stewart gingerly took it around the track. Once he brought it in Hamilton took it out. Hamilton had a BLAST wheeling the stock car around the Glen. He was very surprised how much grip it had and how much power the Chevy V8 made. He was obviously giving it has all and as a result, he was much quicker than Stewarts warm-up laps. Stewart then took the McLaren out. It was very clear he has raced an open wheel car before. He stated during Hamilton's session he wouldn't go all out in the car and he would take it easy not wanting to take a chance of damaging it. His time was 8 seconds faster than Hamilton's Stock Car lap. Stewart stated afterwards his time in the car was one of the greatest things he has ever done and how he has a ton of respect for every F1 driver. Hamilton had a grin from ear to ear and loved the experience also. When asked if he would ever come to NASCAR he simply stated, "Don't count it out, you never know." I won't hold my breathe though . You guys should check out the re-airing of it. It was awesome to see. Short video on it -

Good stuff. They did this a while back with Jeff Gordon and JP Montoya and if I remember correctly Jeff Gordon did very well in the F1 car.

Yes! Great stuff to watch. Gordon also has open wheel experience so he did extremely well.

It's too bad it rained a bit during this, or both drivers might have pushed a little harder. Stewart was worried sick about pushing the McLaren over the edge and causing a $15-20M wreck.
