I have dropped into the abyss....

 

I'm ok with drafting but like Gordon said, nose to tail 3 wide in the middle of the pack when the pushers can't see anything is just not safe.


I also don't get why the teams have each others frequencies so they can talk directly to the other drivers?

 

They are doing over 200mph with only 450 HP. Could you imagine what they would do with the 850HP that they normally have? Mark Martin once did a test at a plate track without a restrictor plate and was doing over 230 without a drafting partner. I would bet it would be 250+ with drafting... Without a plate, we would lose about 3-4 drivers a year at these races. But maybe that is your intent.

 

So they can communicate with who they wan't to draft with. Everyone has it except the Joe Gibbs Cars.

 

I simply blowing smoke out of my you-know-what. I completely agree with you. I was simply stating how ferocious these cars are.

That illustration with the piece of tape or string on the hood was really interesting to see how drafting works.

 

Pretty cool. Doing 195MPH and the tape is blowing the wrong way!

 

Call me a purist, but I don't think drivers should be able to talk to each other.
