I couldn't get the audio to cue up like it should with the video software I was using so please excuse the music if it's not to your liking, but here is a clip of me driving the Contour in the first race lap after the restart on Sunday:

To bad you didn't mount the camera lower Alex. It would've been fun to watch more of the competition/track. Looks like a great time nonetheless!

Yeah, the way we had it mounted definitely wasn't that great. We had way too heavy of a camera for the GoPro mounted gear that we used. One of the things on my agenda to get done by the end of the month for the Iowa race will be to fabricate a hard mounting point on the roll cage to bolt the camera to directly. One of the other problems is the camera itself. It's not really wide enough to get the angle I'd like. A GoPro would do a much better job with the video but this camera interfaces directly with our TraqMate data recorder and we can actually overlay the data from that directly to the video once we get it sorted out. That's why we're kind of stuck with what we've got.

Like I said though, I hope to have much better video to share with everyone after Iowa.

I know you love your gadgets so why not mount both of them? The GoPro cams quality is just beyond sick!

I tried using the GoPro too but I was having issues getting it to shoot video. It kept going back to picture mode after just a few seconds of video. It also won't sync up with the TraqMate like the Sony cam will. I've got some other ideas in mind to record more videos but I don't want to give them away just yet...

That's great! Excellent choice for a car too. I will warn you though, your best bet to get into ChumpCar would be to find a team that already has a car and is looking for drivers. Check out the ChumpCar forums for that or let me know which races you're looking to do and I might be able to help you find a team/car.

For instance, the Escort that I was originally supposed to run with is all built and ready to race, it just needs drivers. I'm currently working on setting up an "Arrive & Drive" package for people who might be looking to get into ChumpCar or there is the possibility of selling the car outright.

Worked on the car a bit this weekend. We cleaned out the interior, prepped it for paint, primed, and then sprayed the majority of the roll cage gold (the front bars that the driver would see are painted black to be less distracting) and the rest of the car's interior silver.

We also got all of the wheels cleaned up and removed several pounds of gravel from Turn 12 out of the front wheels alone. Just looking at the front wheels, you would've thought this was used as a rally car!

Next up, we're going to paint the sides of the car black and get new gold wheels and vinyl graphics made and go for the John Player Special theme. Also on the to-do list for this week will be to start tearing down the gearbox we blew during the race and see if we can rebuild it to keep as a spare.

The team also made the hard decision not to run the 24 hour race in Iowa at the end of the month to save money for more races later in the season. We'll be racing at Iowa in the Chumpionship anyway.

I'm up for this! I need to save up for safety gear.

Awesome!!

Our team just got back from Charlotte today. We had transponder issues for 4 and half hours which really screwed us. Several teams did. He's our Lemons/Chump car. No doubt a blast.

Had a boo boo

The garage space was killer

Maybe we'll meet at a race someday. But we don't really travel west at all.
