^^^That's such a great looking car! I was following the updates on the ChumpCar site during that race. Seems like some of you guys had issues with the chicanes they put on track to slow everyone down....

Thanks!! My boss owns and built the car. He did an awesome job.

A lot of guys definitely had issues with the chicane on the front stretch. 3 hours in they actually stopped the race and had another driver's meeting, haha. Every water barrier that got destroyed was $500 out of your pocket. Some teams rammed right into them like it was no big deal.

After the SECOND driver's meeting people settled down. It was a surreal feeling to run on that track. Had a blast and can't wait to get on there again. Next race we are running is Lemon's event at Summit Point in June.

The next race is just a month away at Brainerd International Raceway. Feels like we haven't made much progress on the car lately but aside from rebuilding the transmissions, I don't think there's a whole lot to do, luckily.

I'm just excited to get suited back up and race again!

It's been awhile since I've updated this thread but we went over all the little details on the car a couple of weekends ago. We tore down both transmissions, replaced the left front control arm, replaced the brake rotors and pads, and got the car all cleaned up. The next race is this weekend and I'm so excited to get back in the car! Hopefully with BIR being a shorter track with shorter straights, we won't be full throttle quite as much and can stretch out the time between pit stops a little longer to 90 min or so in the dry. We also added a 5th driver to the team for this weekend to make things cheaper and even out the driving time for everyone.

Here's the inside of the transmission we blew up at Road America. Notice the 5 or 6 little holes in the casing and the shattered gears from the diff:

Here's the diff from the spare transmission that we ran the rest of our last race weekend:

Check out the completely destroyed bushing in our control arm. No wonder the last guy who raced the car said it felt a little loose!

Got the interior all cleaned up and put back together. Gold cage looking all sexy fresh.

A few from this past Saturday...

I took something like 1500 pics total at the races this weekend and I still need to go through the majority of them. I'll hopefully find time for a full write-up in the next day or two.

We actually finished 7th in both races. Our car wasn't very well suited to the track but we still had a good time and the car was very reliable all weekend.

I'll get a ton of pics posted tomorrow and then hopefully some video footage shortly thereafter.

It's been awhile since I've updated this thread but I'm doing a 14 hr race this weekend at Brainerd International Raceway. We switched back to the red Escort ZX2 for this race because it's a bit more nimble and easier on both tires and fuel. That will be a huge advantage over the Contour, despite the fact that we'll be giving up some straight line speed. I'm hoping to pull off lap times within a second or two of the Contour and make up the rest of the time with less pit stops.

I'll post some pics and video later this weekend. Wish me luck!
