Mikko Hirvonen's dramatic crash at Rally of Finland
Ford driver Mikko Hirvonen crashed out of Rally Finland today in fairly dramatic fashion. The Finn was leading the event when he lost control of his Focus RS and somersaulted over a hill. Crazy in-car and spectator footage below.
Hirvonen rolled his car five times on a right-hand corner just nine kilometers from the start of the rally's fourth stage. He and his co-driver, Jarmo Lehtinen, escaped uninjured, but they're out of the event. Hirvonen's retirement promoted Petter Solberg into the rally lead, while Jari-Matti Latvala moved up to second and Dani Sordo third. The video below shows him annihilating a spectator's camera — with footage from the camera as it gets hit — as well as the depth and breadth of the accident.

What crash, he stayed on the road didn't he? But seriously this prooves once again that speed doesnt kill, it's the sudden stop that does. If they would have hit a stationary obstacle I don't think they would be climbing out.
