Grave Digger Monster Truck headlines Thunder Jam event

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (June 2, 2010) – For the first time in Thunder Jam history one of the most recognizable race machines in all of motorsports will make its debut in front of thousands of screaming fans as the Grave Digger Monster Truck comes to Palm Beach International Raceway Saturday, October 9 for one of the biggest Thunder Jams in the history of the series.

Standing nearly 12 feet tall with 66 inch tall, 44 inch wide tires and weighing in at nearly 12,000 pounds, Grave Digger is one of the most popular race machines on earth and on October 9 Grave Digger will use its 2,000 horsepower Chevy Big Block engine to make a full quarter-mile pass against a guest opponent during the Thunder Jam at PBIR.

“We wanted to do something special for this event and what better way to do that than by bringing out one of the biggest and baddest trucks on earth to wow the Florida fans,” said James Marchyshyn, Thunder Jam Operations Manager. “And the best part about it is that Grave Digger is only a part of the huge show we have planned.”

“The Thunder Jam event is going to be awesome,” said Jason Rittenberry, president and CEO of Palm Beach International Raceway. “We’ve got a full lineup on our hands and we are going to entertain the crowd, that’s for sure. We’ve got some stuff up our sleeves and we are going to do something very special for our audience with the Grave Digger Monster Truck.

“Details are still being worked out, but it is definitely going to be something fans will be itching to be a part of.”

In addition to the Grave Digger Monster Truck south Florida race fans will also see the PBIR debut of the battle of the jet trains as the “Cannonball Express” takes on the “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” in a showdown of two of the fastest race machines on earth.

These two jet-propelled dragsters produce 10-foot flames and nearly 15,000 horsepower as they approach the 300 mile-per-hour barrier and will make multiple passes throughout the night.

“Thunder Jam is known for its fire show and we certainly didn’t want to disappoint. In addition to Grave Digger we have two of the fastest and most exciting jet dragsters in the world putting on a huge show for the fans at PBIR. I can’t wait,” Marchyshyn said.

And that’s not all.

In addition to the headlining acts is the world’s only wheelstanding school bus the “Cool Bus” as it tries to make a full quarter-mile pass with its headlights pointing due north and the absolutely insane Benny the Bomb stunt man.

Strapped inside an old junk vehicle Benny the Bomb will light up the night sky when he detonates the car while still inside and tries to escape from the towering inferno before it’s too late.

All this and more can be see for the most family-friendly prices in all of motorsports. Tickets for the one-night-only spectacle are just $20 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased online by visiting ThunderJam.com.

And, as always, parking and admission to the Thunder Fest pit party is free with admission. Don’t miss out on the most talked about Thunder Jam of the year October 9 at Palm Beach International Raceway.
