Räikkönen scores first World Rally points

Räikkönen scores first World Rally points - Formula 1 news - GPUpdate.net

Kimi Räikkönen notched up his first points finish in the World Rally Championship (WRC) at the season's third round of the year in Jordan on Saturday. After a shaky start to the campaign which featured a 30th position and a failure to finish, the 2007 Formula 1 Champion is pleased with the accomplishment.

Having competed in several smaller rally events last year, former Sauber, McLaren and Ferrari driver Räikkönen switched to the WRC for 2010 and is competing in a Citroën C4 for the Red Bull Junior squad; after hitting a snow bank in Sweden and rolling out of the action in Mexico, Kimi finished eighth in Jordan.

"From the beginning my goal was to get to the end of the rally and I'm really pleased that we've been able to do that, even though the conditions were difficult," the Finn said of the gravel event. "As the stages went on, I learned more and more and my confidence has grown bigger as well.

"We came to Jordan with very little experience of the car on gravel and now we've practically doubled it. I'm getting to know the car better now but the important thing is that I've really enjoyed these three days. We're making progress, which is why we are here, and hopefully this will continue on the next round in Turkey."

That quote is one of the reasons I love Kimi as a driver. He just says it.

For him to score points this early in his rally career is VERY impressive. Except for Loeb, very few WRC champs did well in their early years. Most matured into champions, then retired (or didn't have the same success).

Bravo, Kimi!

My statement is the exact reason why Kimi is my favorite driver.

He doesn't care about sugarcoating things, he's just blunt about it.

One of the comments for this next video:

6Ott7 Kimi can race anything. He could race a dildo if it had a big enough motor in it.

Not many jump into the best car in the field though.

Don't get me wrong, i love loeb, i would rate him probably the greatest rally driver to come around.

Look forward to watching him next month on this stage ( hopefully from this viewpoint ). Whaanga Coast.

I love the middle finger video! Man I hope he comes back to Formula 1 next. Definitely not the same without him.

Yeah he's awesome. I don't know why so many F1 fans despise him.
