'I have seven main rivals' - Schumacher - Formula 1 news - GPUpdate.net

Mercedes Grand Prix driver Michael Schumacher believes that he will have to keep a close eye on no less than seven other drivers this season to have a chance of clinching the Formula 1 world title for the eighth time. The German believes his main rivals are Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull's drivers plus team-mate Nico Rosberg.

On Thursday afternoon Michael Schumacher joined Felipe Massa and fellow Champions Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso for the first FIA press conference of the year in Bahrain.

The championship candidates talked about the upcoming season, including their main competition for the crown.

"Basically, I think there are the four main teams that you're looking at and in all those cars," German Schumacher explained. "So you're talking about a potential eight drivers, seven around me that I have to look out for. Four of them are sitting here right now and there are three more that aren't here right now.

"It's very tough to mention who is the one but it doesn't matter who it is because you're focused on that one."
