The 2010 TS Formula 1 Fantasy League Discussion Thread

I just reviewed my budget and realized that I did the math wrong.
You can't blame me - I am an attorney.
I realized that I can afford the three-driver lineup that I wanted.
So I dropped Jenson like a hot rock.
I think I have the best possible lineup right now.
But because the best drivers went up in value, I am at a disadvantage in overall budget.
We will just have to wait and see.....

So what you're saying, Dana, is that a 3 top-level driver lineup is better than a 4 person lineup with 2 top drivers and 2 lesser drivers?

Gaps in final times--especially after the first race--can give us a good idea of who is where from the outset of the season. I'll just post the top 10 finisher's final time gaps here for fun and thought. Keep in mind that a second, even a half second (over the course of 50+/- laps) is an eternity. I guess I'm doing this because I was thinking just how vast a chasm the gap was between some of these teams, and how much work they will need to put in to close these gaps (stated in seconds). These gaps are pretty spread out: MAS+16, HAM+23.1, VET +38.7(with the caveat that he led by 20+ seconds before trouble), ROS+40.2, SCH+44.1, BUT+45.2, WEB+46.3, LIU+53.0, BAR+62.4.

I think buying the three best drivers you can right now will preserve value and be just as good as a a 4-driver with 2 lesser guys.
The goal should be to have those 3 top drivers and eventually add a 4th driver when you can. Grabbing Lewis or Vettel now will gain you some budget.
Alonso may already be too expensive to gain much.

Second from last place - not a good start for my first time in the TS league...

If I were you, I would sell your whole team and pick up the best three drivers you can. Something like this:
Alonso
Lewis
Webber
The way I see it, only 4 drivers really have a chance of bagging pole position and a race win early in the season.
Alonso
Lewis
Vettel
Massa
In the name of diversification, I would not pick both Massa and Alonso.
But you need to those 50 bonus points for the pole and those big 200 for winning to stay competaive.
I tried a well balanced 4-driver team and got burned too.
Rubens and Sutil combined scored 20 points less than Vettel scored on his own.
