López signed as US F1 driver, says manager - Formula 1 news - GPUpdate.net
Argentine driver José Maria López will become one of the two US F1 drivers for the team's debut season in Formula 1, according to his Manager, with an announcement for the 26-year-old set to arrive in due course.
The first F1 experience for López came as Renault test driver in 2006, whilst competing in GP2 for the Super Nova team. Due to a lack of funding, he returned to Argentina in 2007 to race in TC2000, the country's Touring Car Championship, and has claimed the title in the same series for the past two years.
As rumoured some weeks ago, however, the Rio Tercero driver now looks likely to make his F1 race debut with the Charlotte-based team this year. "Everything has been agreed and the official announcement will be made on Monday," Manager Mattos told Reuters.
