Formula One news: FIA reaction: Briatore banned permanently from F1 - GPUpdate.net Formula One
The Renault's FIA hearing in Paris on Monday may have seen the team leave without its suspected fine although former Team Principal Flavio Briatore is no longer granted access to Formula One or any other FIA championship. Also, drivers managed by the Italian - Mark Webber and Heikki Kovalainen - will not be granted fresh super licences.
Neither Briatore nor ex-Executive Director of Engineering Pat Symonds attended the hearing on Monday due to holding no obligation following their departures from the team last Wednesday.
An FIA statement regarding Briatore reads as follows:
'The World Motor Sport Council declares that, for an unlimited period, the FIA does not intend to sanction any International Event, Championship, Cup, Trophy, Challenge or Series involving Mr. Briatore in any capacity whatsoever, or grant any license to any Team or other entity engaging Mr. Briatore in any capacity whatsoever.
It also hereby instructs all officials present at FIA-sanctioned events not to permit Mr. Briatore access to any areas under the FIA's jurisdiction.
Furthermore, it does not intend to renew any Superlicence granted to any driver who is associated (through a management contract or otherwise) with Mr. Briatore, or any entity or individual associated with Mr. Briatore.
In determining that such instructions should be applicable for an unlimited period, the World Motor Sport Council has had regard not only to the severity of the breach in which Mr. Briatore was complicit but also to his actions in continuing to deny his participation in the breach despite all the evidence.'
The penalty means that, not only is Briatore being unable to be associated with FIA championships for the rest of his life, but both Red Bull's Webber and McLaren's Kovalainen will be forced to seek new management.

He told his driver ( at the time, Piquet ) to crash purposely in Singapore to give Fernando a good shot at winning the race, which he did.
So he effectively fixed the race to give his team a better shot.
Whilst this was the right outcome, in my view, hes the only one to have been caught, and throughout F1, no doubt shit like this has been going on since it became so commercial.
What really irks me, is that Piquet is getting of scot free through i presume, co-operation. He willingly cheated and put other drivers safety at risk and gets nothing? He'll never be back in F1 anyway, but still. Cry-baby son of a bitch.
Still a pretty crappy way for a guy whos been so influential in motorsport to go out.

Piquet is dumb for agreeing to crash but I agree that he shouldn't receive any punishment otherwise we wouldn't be talking about this right now.
