Bourdais moves to Superleague Formula

Formula One news: Bourdais moves to Superleague Formula - GPUpdate.net Formula One

Former Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Bourdais has joined the Superleague Formula series, the series which completed its first season in 2008. The Frenchman will enjoy his debut in this fairly new series this weekend in Portugal racing for Spanish football club FC Sevilla.

Following a successful half-day's testing at Magny-Cours last week with British outfit Ultimate, Bourdais took the decision to contest the last three rounds of the 2009 Superleague Formula.

"For a driver, Superleague Formula is the best alternative to F1," says Bourdais. "Today, it's the only other championship in Europe to offer a driver the possibility of racing single seaters at a high, professional level. I am also a firm believer in the concept of merging motorsport and football. It's a partnership that offers enormous potential and should have a good future. Once the championship is established and more widely known, I am sure that Superleague Formula will be very strong."

So does he race with footballers? It sounds like a joke of a series but racing in that is better than not racing at all, I suppose.

Actually, I would've raced in the Euro LMS series if I were in his shoes. He did/does great things behind the wheel of the Peugeot 908 so I'm not sure why he doesn't just go back to competing in that car.
