well, i expect wheel tethers will become mandatory as they are in many series. it was a freak accident but you will recall the track worker that was killed a few years back when JV's wheel struck him...as a result F1 mandated tethers. sometimes it takes these type of tragic deaths to bring about positive change.

it's basically a zylon rope that connects the wheel to the car in the event of a crash. unfortunately, if the rope gets twisted it can break somewhat easily. because of F2's low budget they may not have an F1 standard tether but i got an sms from a buddy telling me these williams designed F2 cars are FIA 2005 F1 compliant...which means wheel tethers of F1 caliber should be on the cars. from the footage it didn't look like that was the case. im sure the investigation will shed some light on this issue.
