Discussion points:
1. Has Red Bull caught and surpassed Brawn?
Red Bull has certainly made some gains along with the previously seen diffuser they added a new front nose as well as a new underpannel (tray) some of the gains seen in this race are because of the new aero package while some are down to the fact that RB's car is the best suited to Silverstone and crucially the track temperature was about 26 degrees C which is way bellow Brawn's ideal temp which is between 30 and 40 roughly and was obviously fine for RB. Also for the first time this season Brawn got the tire strategy wrong Button and Rubbens were considerebly slower on the long second stint when they were on the harder compound which didn't suit their car at all; if it were a perfect weekend for Brawn considering the circumstances they would scored no higer than 3rd and 4th. So in all RB has certainly made some gains but they were magnified by the venue and the track temp Germany will probably show us just how much closer the RB's are to the Brawn's.
2. Has Ferrari passed Toyota?
As Alzilla and Big E have said Ferrari's reliability and better drivers coupled with KERS amount to the gains Ferrari have made. Even though Toyota has a faster car I doubt they'll get the better of Ferrari and I predict that Ferrari will clinch third in the WCC
3. Is Rosberg a top 5 driver now?
No, I rate Nico as #8 (like Alzilla). I heard member driving sidewayz yesterday on the prerace commentary (he was invited by the local tv station to give his opinions on the race) say something profound: much of the pace of the Williams during practice is down to the fact that they are as light as possible which suits the Williams best you will notice that almost always both Williams lose much of their pace in Q3 (race fuel). The Brawn on the other hand seems to preform best in Q3 which means they have used the added weight to their advantage somehow.
4. Can Jenson recover?
Definitely the championship is still Button's to lose even if RB has a faster car all Button needs to do is score as many points as possible in the remaining races to secure the championship he still has a considerable lead in the WDC. Plus if RB really want to challenge for the title they need to get behind Vettel and ask Webber to support him which will be a tough pill to swallow but the longer it takes RB to stand behind one driver the better the chances for Brawn to secure both championships.
5. Why a three-week break before Germany?
Probably giving the teams a little breather but I really don't know
