Thumbs up

"Diplomatic" may be the best word to describe McLaren F1. Ever. Period.

If Mercedes-McLaren were to leave F1 now, something tells me that they may never come back to the sport.

You may be right; they've got McLaren successors to design/build/engineer anyway. They could move on to Le Mans maybe. Or NASCAR (they would just love Ron Dennis)

Can't you guys see the back room meeting in your mind. It went something like this:

Max: Achtung Norbert! You back me up on everything I have to say about the budget crap coming up or McLaren is OUT OF F1.

Norbert: Yes sir.

Max. Shit. You ain't no Ron Dennis....

There's a date by which the constructors have to indicate that they will be contesting the next season. I just read a short blurb indicating that Montezomolo missed today's FOTA meeting at Heathrow since his father died; today was the day to hammer out some sort of compromise/bargain collectively. Bad news that Ferrari's representative wasn't there...
