F1 News: Schumi Pulls Rank On Nico To Avoid "Unlucky" Number

What was that about "equality" at MBGP?

I find many of these motorsports superstitions fascinating. They will likely grant the request.

As if Rosberg should stir the pot with Schumi more... I know it's not his call, but if Rosberg takes it like a man, things will go better for him. I think if Rosberg plays nice, Schumi will teach him a thing or two that will pay dividends for Rosberg later. Schumi is like Michael Jordan - not only is he amazing, he elevates the quality of his teammates (Herbert, Irvine, Barrichello, Massa).

It's hard to tell if Schumi is actually being serious with his request or just trying to establish dominance on the team, but either way, I think he'll get whatever he wants this year (possibly even a WDC).

I think it's just a little slap for baby Nico for his snarky little comments in the past few weeks. Sometimes, you just need to reach into the back seat and smack the kids around a little.

I know Schumi's real popular here, but I can't help thinking this kind of nonsense bodes very well for Alonso, Hamilton, and the Newey cars.

Jo I understand why you may consider it as nonsense I'm not superstitious my self but the fact remains Michael won all of his 7 WDC's in odd numbered cars: five times in the number 1 car and one a piece in the number 3 and number 5 car.

And their is a lot of valid points made by Chris and PMac. Nico was very obnoxious about his chances against the world's greatest. I believe Michael is truly is suspicious, as most athletes are, in his demand for the number 3. Yet its naive to assume that asserting dominance wasn't at least in the back of his mind at the time he made the request.

On the other hand Nico's attitude is understandably justified as any great driver aims to be the best and refuses to be cast in the shadow of his team mate. Yet I honestly believe by adopting an attitude such as Felipe's ,when he first joined Ferrari, will be much more beneficial to him in the long term. Recall Massa before he joined Ferrari, most agreed he was talented yet few believed he had the potential to be champion including Ferrari (who hired him as a number 2 to replace Rubens). Yet he has proven that he has what it takes and then some to be a legitimate contender for the championship. Like Chris stated earlier Nico will be much better served if he realizes that by changing his attitude he has a lot to gain from having Micheal mentoring him.
