Formula One news: Work to begin on Senna film - GPUpdate.net Formula One

This Friday, 1 May, marks the fifteenth anniversary of the death of Ayrton Senna, Brazil's three-time World Champion who raced in Formula One between 1984 and 1994. As a tribute to the man, considered by many as the greatest driver to have lived, a documentary film is being recorded from next month.
The feature film will cover Senna's decade in the top level of motorsport, featuring his spellbinding and near-winning performance for Toleman in the soaking 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, his infamous title-deciding races with Alain Prost at Suzuka and finally his tragic death at Imola in 1994, at the age of 34. Directing will be Asif Kapadia, behind such titles as Far North and The Warrior.
With Ayrton's family very much supporting the film and Formula One Management (FOM) providing footage, all funds raised will go towards the Ayrton Senna Institute which helps to improve the lives of Brazilian children living in poverty, without opportunities to experience lives of those more fortunate.
The production will be created by Working Title Films, a name behind more than 90 films resulting in six Academy Awards and 26 BAFTAs as well as success at the International Film Festivals of Cannes and Berlin. Previous titles include About a Boy, Bean, Billy Elliot, Dead Man Walking, Elizabeth, Fargo, Four Weddings & A Funeral, High Fidelity, The Interpreter, Johnny English and Notting Hill.
