Norbert Haug has suggested that Mercedes may be interested in signing Germany's Sebastian Vettel in coming years. Having won his second Grand Prix in China last weekend, Vettel has been mentioned by the Mercedes Motorsport vice president, who acknowledges the talents of the 21-year-old.
"A lot of money has been invested in Sebastian and, being fair to Red Bull, they are now reaping the rewards of a long-term investment," Haug told Bild. Sebastian first made his F1 debut in 2007, deputizing for BMW's Robert Kubica in the American Grand Prix. His current Red Bull Racing contract is set to expire at the end of next season, however, for which Haug senses an opportunity.
"We'll look further into it then," Haug admitted, who - despite Mercedes providing engines to three teams - works closely with partners McLaren. "He is great and yes, maybe sometime he could be with us in a silver arrow."

NOOOOOOO!!! That would be terrible to have two drivers of their ability on the same team. I say go to Ferrari if anywhere Vettel. Better yet, with the current cost cuts planned for the future, just stay at Red Bull.

Vettel would not work out a McLaren with Lewis there. They would both want to be #1 drivers. They are too young to understand the need for one of them to take one for the team on occasion. I can't see it working out.
I see similar problems at Ferrari. Who would be #2? Right now I don't think there is a #1 or #2 at Ferrari because the car is unreliable. But I don't think Massa will ever see himself as a #2 again and Kimi just doesn't care.

You do bring up a good point that had slipped my mind. Having Vettel and Hamilton on a team could turn into a similar situation to what occurred in 2007 with Alonso? Then again, both drivers are young and I don't think there'd be the same jealousy factor like there was with Alonso. His ego deserves its own team.
