I think that's the thing that people don't realize. A set of tires for an F1 car will easily set you back $100K iirc. A gearbox would cost close to $250K. An engine would be more still. Those are the big things, but if you look at little parts like suspension, exhausts, body panels, even just the tools to take things apart and put them back together will cost more than 90% of people make in a whole year.
