Red Bull partners with the French oil giant

On the day the covers came off Red Bull Racing’s 2009 Formula One car, the RB5, the team announced Total is joining as a 'Team Supplier'.

Total, one of the World’s largest oil and gas companies, will supply the team with all its fuel and lubricants for engines and gearboxes.

“We are delighted to welcome Total to Red Bull Racing,” commented Team Principal Christian Horner. “Total will make a significant contribution to our technical performance. New rules require race engines to last longer than in the past and with the added strain on the work cycle caused by KERS, lubricants can play a vital role in ensuring reliability, not just for the engine, but also for the gearbox."

"Working closely with our engine partner, Renault, the right fuels and lubricants can also have a positive effect on power output and fuel consumption," Horner concluded.

Total sponsor the Red Bull-backed Citroen World Rally Championship programme as well as Peugeot's Le Mans, LMS and ALMS programmes.
