The question-marks about the 2010 British Grand Prix switch to Donington continue, with revelations of debts and a new lawsuit against circuit boss Simon Gillett.

The Financial Mail reports that, following the departure of Chief Operating Officer Lee Gill, he is taking CEO Gillett to the High Court in connection with his dismissal.

Additionally, accounts just filed at Companies House show a €14m loss for 2008, 76m in debt, and the view of an auditor that Donington may not be ready to host the F1 race next year.

F1 Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone has said he will review Donington's progress in September and is prepared to take his sport away from Britain altogether.


UK's the Financial Mail said Donington's main financial backer is the Monaco-based property developer Paul White but he is "under no binding agreement to keep the company afloat."

Gillett said details about the financial package will be revealed in March. "Anybody who doubts our progress or commitment is welcome to visit the Donington Park cafe, where they can watch the ongoing construction development on large screens," he said.

this is a joke right? aren't most teams based in the UK? this guy is losing his mind.

 

Although I like that no country/circuit get any "special treatment"(except for Monaco that is) but I'm with you on this one. That's just a stupid thing to do.
