WRC: Organizers Cancel Loeb's Penalty
It's nice to see that some racing leagues have governing bodies that can admit mistakes . . .

Organisers cancel Loeb's penalty
By Matt Beer Sunday, December 7th 2008, 15:47 GMT
Sebastien Loeb's winning margin in the Wales Rally GB has increased to 12.7 seconds after the organisers cancelled his SS18 jump start penalty.
The world champion was adamant that he had not jumped the lights at the start of Rheola 2, and having analysed on-board camera footage, the officials have now agreed that the penalty was incorrect and removed it from the results.
Loeb thought he had taken the rally lead when he won the Rheola stage, only to be left speechless by the news that he had incurred a 10-second penalty - dropping him back to second behind Jari-Matti Latvala.
He made up for it in the final stage, overcoming Latvala again to snatch a dramatic last-gasp victory by what he thought at the time was just 2.7 seconds, although in retrospect Loeb would still have taken the win once the penalty was erased.
