My thoughts exactly. It's not pretty - but I'm sure it moves.

It's a Daytona Prototype.

I guess you don't follow Grand Am.

That stinks. This isn't ALMS. This is the 2nd teer series in America. It's owned by the family who owns Nascar. Those crazy looking cars are Daytona Prototypes which is one of the two classes in Grand Am. The other class is GT, which is made up of Cup Cars, RX8's, F430's, Pontiacs, M6's, etc. It's a lot cheaper to run Grand Am than ALMS.

Also, see avatar for a Grand Am Cup Car. You can mod the GT cars. (Aka, the RX8 weights like 2100 lbs and revs to like 9k)

So is the prototype that Penske is running a Porsche? What makes it a Porsche ( same with the other manufac. i guess )?

What mods are they doing to the Cup Cars? Other than the bigger rear wing by the looks of it.

Well, there Prototypes have different chassis and engines, but they're all equal. Yes, that DP car pictured is running a Cayenne powered engine. (Obviously modded) But no, not all teams run Porsche engines. The body is not Porsche, you can choose from different chassis, but they are all equal.

The Cup Cars...hmm..This year you can run the Cup S front bumper, bigger wing, RSR tips, some suspension upgrades. That's just off the top of my head.
