eshaun in da house...with a new toy for 08!

With all the great deals after the holiday season decided it was time pick up a canon 40D and move on from my trusty nikon D70 which I've been using for the past 4yrs. Originally planned to sell it, but for the few hundred bux i'd get on craigslist I decided to give it to my lil bro to share with his gf who has been wanting to get into photography for quite a while.

Before the onslaught of why nikon v canon...I've extensively shot with both, and each really have their minor nuances. Even though nikon makes some very capable gear decided to invest in canon because many of my good friends have quite a collection of unique canon gear that I'll now be able to try out...15m fisheye here i come, just kidding...

That said, im still debating if I want to keep my brand new 17-40L as my primary walk around lens. Superwide zoom may just be a passing fad in what I choose to primarily shoot...so im not sure if I really want a 10-22. These days I rarely shoot subjects farther away than 10ft, but a 70-200L may be on the way shortly nevertheless. Also added the obligatory 50m 1.8, seems a tad plasticky compared to the nikon counterpart, but its sufficient for my needs.

I've met many of you on other forums and at local events so I look forward to continuing to share my hobby with fellow enthusiasts here as well. Soon as I fit in some time to update my personal website and gallery I'll post up a link here =)

Here's some of my recent favorites...

70-200 2.8 is hands down the best lens ive ever used.

17-40 is great.... though for indoor purposes its always nice to have the 2.8 set (16-35 24-70...yet to decide which one to get)

50 1.4 is a must
