My dad loves his D200, which he picked up used for a killer deal from a friend for $600, probably should have been at least $1,000. Can you afford (fiscally and mentally) to switch over and go with a D300?

fotograf is an unknown quantity at this point
I usually refer people to a write-up I did a while back on vwvortex.com. The best way to figure out shich camera is best for you is to:
- Find which features are most important to you
- Figure out your budget
- Reference the chart and dpreview.com and determine which cameras fit your requirements.
- Head into a camera shop and feel each camera, this is one of the most important stages.
- Buy from a reputable dealer online.

This is a short and sweet way of doing it, but you will save yourself a lot of headache if you do it in this basic order.

I just picked up the Nikon D60 kit from costco with the 18-55 lens. I upgraded to the Nikkor 18-200 VR lens and man, what a great combo. Camera is easy to use, very user friendly, and takes great pictures. I couldn't be happier.

im in a similar boat felix, my rebel xt has broken twice now and im finally going to upgrade, i wanted to jump into a 5D but the remplacement is being unveiled in August, so i dont want to get it and then have it replaced right away. I just bought a 40D and should have it arrive in the following days, the 50D wont be unveiled until earliest december so im not to worried about the replacement. With the 40D I also picked up myself a Canon 70-200 F2.8L IS, finally got the lens ive always wanted! I'm really excited
