Though I've had Photoshop forever, from what I've heard Lightroom works well unless you plan on doing pixel-by-pixel post-processing and professional touchups.

Highly recommend Lightroom. But I use it side-by-side with Photoshop for different resources. Both amazing programs!

I use CS4 all the time along with Apple Aperture but have used Lightroom, looking back I would take Lightroom over Aperture.

I use Photoshop Element 6 and plan'n to get 7...
I think it does the job of touching up and small things like that and only USD65

I've heard that too but I couldn't get used to Lightroom when I had my free 30-day trial so I just stuck with Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Camera Raw to process all of my images. I admit that it's not very conductive to a speedy workflow so I'll need to take another look at Lightroom very soon.

What's the purpose of Lightroom? Is there anything it can do that an advanced Photoshop user cannot?
