First time shooting outside, thanks to Felix for the tips...

So Felix (Porschefanatic) was good enough to share some shooting and post processing tips with me. I took my wife and 6 month old daughter to the marina by the house today on a nice mild, yet cloudy afternoon. I never shot outdoors with a DSLR before. My experience was always limited to macro shots with watches. I used a Nikkor prime 50mm f1.4 and mostly shot these at 1.8 with Aperture priority and metered exposure at ISO 200 using a Nikon D90. Shot JPEG Basic medium and post processed in PS CS3. All comments and feedback welcome.

Love the 1,3 & 5 since they got a very nice focus. I don't know shit about photography but they all came out great!

Thanks guys. By the way, click the little yellow bar above each image to see the full size because I noticed that the shrunken down version gets skewed and blurry.

So???
Did you feed the birds?
I always find landscape a good place to start experimenting, but you did a great job with the portraits….

Awesome shots.

Colors pop nicely without been overdone. Nice processing.

Great pics for the first time. I like #3 the most, I find that pics of unsuspecting subjects always come out better, as that way it seems to capture natural mood and settings nicely.

Great job, man! I really love my Nikkor 50 f/1.4 too!

By the way, your daughter is adorable.

That's just a useless and annoying forum function.
To disable it, go to Quick Links under your name, Edit Options, and it's at the bottom of the "Thread Viewing Option" section.

Very good pics. Perhaps the subject is too centered? But the DoF is just beautiful.
