I finally got to shoot motorsport again!!!
Well guys, I've haven't had a chance to shoot any racing or motorsports since I went the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) race at Road America last May. Since it's cold and snowy for 6 months out of the year here in MN, I don't usually get to cover any motorsports unless I travel out of the state.
This weekend though, one of my friends told me he heard about an ice racing club that was having a race on a lake about 15 miles away from my apartment! Since I haven't shot anything lately, I figured I would load up my camera gear, throw on a few extra layers of clothing, and go freeze my ass off on a frozen lake for the afternoon. Boy, am I glad I did! I've never seen ice racing before but watching these guys slide their cars (most of which cost well under $2500) around on the ice within a few yards of each other was pretty damn cool! Chris gets sunny Sebring, FL. I get a frozen lake...
I haven't posted many pics here since SEMA, so without further a due, I present to you my ice racing photos!

It was a pretty small course, and very, very flat so I couldn't really get too many angles. I'm actually kicking myself for not standing on top of my car to shoot or lying down on the ice to get different angles, but hopefully these are good enough.

Pretty damn cool! I wish I could say we even got snow or ice here in Florida.
Although, I think if by some chance we actually did in my part of town, I'd probably never want to see it again!
Awesome stuff, looks like a good time!
I always say anything involving cars is better than nothing.

There wasn't much snow on the lake since we had a few days of 40+ F weather last week that melted all the snow. The lake was still VERY frozen though. Where they were racing the ice was close to 3 feet thick!!! The patches that look like water are just where the snow melted so it's just bare ice.
