I actually did this exact test drive... only I test drove the 335xi to make it completely fair

The audi feels faster and definitely makes the better noise. The interior is very cockpit like. It is nicer than the bmw's. I felt there was more of an occasion driving it with the noise and the huge wheels and the fact that it has "s" badging everywhere.

The bimmer was very "get in and drive" I felt more in control of the car from the get go and felt comfortable really stepping on it. The visibility is great. Overall an extremely sorted car. The only issue is that everyone has one.

I am really curious to see what audi will push out for the S4...I heard twin turbo v6 on autoblog which could mean mods galore. The noise of their 4.2 v8 is sick though.

Overall, great cars both of them. If you have the $6ish thousand dollar leaway in your budget the S5 will not dissapoint, but the 335 is a fantastic car as well and for most probably the easier choice because it is so easy to live with (especially with that 50k mile service)

Both are fantastic, i would take the 335 though... Don't need the AWD and don't like AWD, BMW is so much more pure in a driving experience, and that's what i'm after!

would you still take the 335i over both the s5 and 335xi if it was your only car and you lived in the midwest?

Without a doubt, AWD does nothing for me, my winter car is RWD
