That's a lot of miles right there. My crew cab gets 350 per tank. Of course it's 25 gallons lol

Diesel is about 40 cents a gallon more over here which is $9 per fill up more over gas but you take the 18 mpg I get vs the 12 mpg I used to get at best in my gas powered pickups you are almost double the miles when driven well.

One of my managers averages 22 mpg in his full size duramax and that's amazing.

My F-250 (7.3 diesel) has a mild chip, intake and exhaust and I usually get 700 miles from a 38 gallon tank, and I typically go 75+ on the freeway and do not baby it around town. That meansaround 19 mpg from a 7,000 lb truck with really good power. i have a friend with an identical truck with the Triton V-10, and it is much slower and he averages 10-12 mpg.

I'm about the same in my '11 Chevy 2500HD. Average about 18 mpg.

Chris, time to trade in the car for a truck amigo.

Sorry for the semi tangent but isn't the argument for the diesel vs gas trucks that the actual cost of the truck is more expensive so the time to recoup that cost via diesel savings is a long time?

If you hold it long enough no and also a lot less trips to the station is the biggest gain.

+1. If you think of it strictly in terms of gas money saved over time, you're looking through the wrong lens.
