Rumormill: Audi R8 GT (Sport) V10 coming this fall

Wanted to share some information I have got that we will likely see lightweight Audi R8 GT V10 debut at Paris auto show. Know it is too early to speculate about autumn when everyone waits for Geneva now, but still want to share this information. R8 GT V10 is rumored to be stripped down and in result about 100 kg lighter, slightly reworked V10 engine good for about 550-560 hp, do not know as for now if there will be same gearbox as now on regular R8, or it will faster, but word is that it could also be brand new DCT transmission. Also word is that this car could be faster not only than regular Gallardo LP560-4, but possibly also than LP570-4 SL on most ocassions.

There were talks after spyshots surfaced last summer:

Audi R8 Sport spied - Autocar.co.uk

And now launch of this R8 version is rumored for Paris auto show 2010 this fall.

Im very suprised Audi has the balls to make this car, i've always thought the r8 had more potential than the gallardo, but i didn't think audi would actually go through making a better car than their premier brand. however, i'm sure the price will reflect this and be nearly identical to a Gallardo

Seems like a strange fit for Audi. Either way, it ought to be pretty badass. Any word on if it will maintain Quattro or switch to RWD only?

Quattro. I guess both Audi and Lambo will stay away from RWD after Balboni G, seems that Gallardo LP5X0-2 SV is cancelled also.

I heard that we may see a RWD version in the future as Audi plans on bringing the R8 LMS (GT3 program) to the states eventually. The problem now is that the R8 road car is not RWD from the factory and is therefore not allowed in the ALMS as a RWD race car. This is just a rumor though...
