While I absolutely adored my B6 S4 and consider Audi > All, the S4 has always been sort of a bastard child since the RS was introduced. Deliberately toned down in its awesomeness in favor of the RS4. And the target audience is kind of vague - those who want to be able to go fairly quick but never really does. Like my dad.

Don't know if you recall that James May rant on Top Gear when he went on about how a brand of cheese have several different products, and the cheaper cheese isn't as good as it can be. I don't think the S4 is as good as it can be.

An A4 3.0TDi is point of a second slower in a drag race but is just as good, if not better, at everything else.

ROTFL...the RS4 is such a far better experience than the S4, but wait until a couple yrs of audi depreciation drop it like a rock to something reasonable to pay for an A4 platform.

I like the new S4.
We will test drive the new A4 and the S3 Sportback in 2 weeks.
We are thinking of selling the Escalade, which is a great car but just too big for Germany and buying a A4 Station Wagon (S4) or the S3 Sportback.

But I first want to test drive the new S4 before making a decision. They are not available so far for test drives but I hope in January, February 09. This is also when we want to sell our Escalade.

I wish we could get the S3 Sportback here. It's such a great car. When the new RS5 comes out, I'll take a long look at it. I don't need 4 doors per se, but I like the practicality of the RS4. My dream matchup is the RS4 and another 911.

Rex Racer is an unknown quantity at this point
The red RS6 sedan that was parked right behind it was twice as hot!

yea, seems like it'll be mean on the streets, but will be better once kits are offered to upgrade the supercharger application... that and a quad exhaust rather than dual tips would be a mean car...
