New Model: Cigarette 49 Grand Sport II

Finally we can show you some pictures of the Cigarette 49 Grand Sport II. A new model is always big announcement especially when it is presented by a legendary company that is Cigarette in the fast power boating industry. As the title says the mark II of the 49 Grand Sport features some important new updates like a raised fore deck, redesigned cockpit, better and richer quality fittings, and new windshield design which says more traditional Cigarette to the previous wrap around design. With all these changes you can actually say for half of it the Cigarette is a new boat. Inside the 49 Grand Sport keeps the plush and comfortable experience of a full berth with a shower head, and all the creature comforts in the detailed cabin with six feet of head room. The 49 Gran Sport II unlikes its gas petrol guzzling sisters will be powered with a diesel and surface drives combination option only. In this case the power comes from twin Cummins 710hp, which also supports the Mercury SmartCraft controls.
Technical Data:
LOA - 14.93 m (49ft)
Beam - 3.04 m
Draft - 0.91 m
Displacement - 9752 kg
Fuel Capacity - 1892 l
Water Capacity - 189 l
Accommodation - 2 + 2 berths
Engines - 2 x Cummins 715hp
Propulsion - Arneson surface drives ASD11

Cigarette present the new 49 Grand Sport II offering the same roomy cockpit, cabin and large sun pad as the original Grand Sport, but now with a new deck and aerodynamic styling that makes it even more a Cigarette. The original Grand Sport was presented in 2007 to offer a bit of pampering to the Cigarette customer who wanted a little more room and luxury in a performance boat. Many Cigarette loyalists in the international markets had achieved a level to acquire what they wanted and the renowned US boat builder delivered at the time the 49 Grand Sport with an expanded ten feet beam, a full berth, separate shower head, and complete creature comforts of a private detailed cabin. The Grand Cigarette could accommodate more in everything from people, accessories, storage, to more powerful engine, and propulsion options. While maintaining the six feet head room in the cabin is a great attraction for taller customers the new 49 Grand Sport II deck has been raised for ease of movement in and out of the boat. The 49 Grand Sport II will also offer a new Cigarette windscreen offering excellent visibility and wind-protection. The boat's handling is also enhanced by its power options, with new Arneson Surface Drives propulsion fitted to twin Cummins Quantum Series Diesel 715hp. The Cummins come also with Mercury SmartCraft enabled. The extended transom of the Grand Sport II creates a large sunbathing pad, especially popular when relaxing or entertaining and also provides easy access to the boat from the dock. Various seating options can be customized for boating preferences, but comfort, top-quality upholstery, and room to move about the boat remain Cigarette staples of design. Newly added features include a Cigarette designed custom made muffler exhaust system, and a Cummin Onan 5kw generator. The paint scheme of the 49 Grand Sport II is also special being designed with official Ferrari paints featuring Nero Daytona Black metallic, accented with Grigio Ingrid gold metallic and highlights of Ferrari Fiorano Rosso metallic red in the logo. Designer David Hunter of Invisions opted for simplicity, allowing the lines of the boat to be the design as he extended the curves of the sleek, sweeping hull with the gleaming colors.

Glad to see the 49 with diesels, especially Cummins diesels. The Arnesons of course are totally necessary with the diesel torque. I'm disappointed in the low cabin headroom though. The Black Thunder 46 has 6'10" in the cabin and 6' in the forward berth.

I expect this boat to run in the low 70s or high 60s depending on prop selection. The 850hp gasoline boat ran 82.
