Six people taken to hospital after boat capsizes on Lake Ray Hubbard

LAKE RAY HUBBARD — Six people were transported to hospitals Saturday afternoon after their speedboat capsized on Lake Ray Hubbard.
The crew of the boat was taking part in the Ray Hubbard Powerboat Association's 2009 Spring Poker Run, which raises money for charity. The boat apparently tried to make a sudden turn near a buoy without slowing down.
Witness Michael Wilmoth said his boat was overtaken by the craft that crashed. "I was probably doing about 80-85," he said. "They were doing over 100." The boat rolled and all six on board ended up in the water. Officials at the scene said it looked like the accident victims suffered bruises and broken bones. Five ambulances took the victims to area hospitals — one went to Baylor Medical Center at Garland, four went to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, and the sixth was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. None of the injuries were thought to be life-threatening.
The Poker Run raises money for Jonathan's Place, a charity that helps abused children. The craft was a Cigarette 39.

DJ, this is the boat that rolled. Both were originally owned by the same guy and have very similar paint. The one in your picture is the 'Skaterette' - it's a Skater V hull, rigged by Cigarette. (notice the one-of-a-kind wraparound windshield)

I work for the guy whom was the 1st owner of the boat that crashed. It was unstable and that is why he ordered the second boat which is now for sale at a steal!!!
The second boat will go 128mph, the first boat was on the cover of Powerboat mag. and I believe was one of the first 39' Top Guns with 1075 Mercs
